Week 5 UX Observation update
1. Recognition Rather Than Recall
- Streaming Service: Netflix
- Application: The "Continue Watching" row prominently displays content you recently started, removing the need for users to memorize or manually search for the exact show and episode they left off on.
2. Flexibility and Efficiency of Use
- Design Tool: Figma
- Application: It provides intuitive drag-and-drop features for beginners, while simultaneously offering robust keyboard shortcuts (like 'V' for pointer, 'R' for rectangle) that allow expert designers to work at lightning speed.
3. Aesthetic and Minimalist Design
- Search Interface: Google Homepage
- Application: The page focuses entirely on the core task by stripping away all clutter, featuring only a centered search bar surrounded by ample white space to avoid distracting the user.
4. Help Users Recognize, Diagnose, and Recover from Errors
- Form Validation: Mailchimp
- Application: When creating a password, the system highlights specific missing requirements in red text (e.g., "Missing a special character") in real-time, clearly explaining the exact problem and how to fix it.
5. Help and Documentation
- Project Management: Trello
- Application: During initial onboarding, it populates a user's workspace with a pre-made "Welcome Board" containing step-by-step instructional cards, guiding users through features exactly when and where they need the help.
